What does Membership mean with Dancers Studio?
You are considered a Member while enrolled in one of our Membership Packages. Unlike a health or country club we do not have monthly or annual fees. While enrolled in a package, students are required to take at least two private lessons per month during the course of their Membership.
What are the benefits of Private Lessons?
Private lessons are the most effective and efficient way to improve your dancing skills. Dancers Studio offers Membership Packages with discounted rates to ensure students maximize their instruction time.
May I come in and practice those swanky steps?
Definitely! We encourage our Members to work on their dance skills outside of private lessons and group classes. Practice times are subject to space availability so please check with our Front Desk Staff for exact times. Non-Members may also practice at Dancers Studio for $10 per person, per hour.
How long are Private Lessons and Group Classes?
Each lesson or class is 50 minutes long and begins on the hour. We recommend arriving at Dancers Studio 15 minutes prior to your lesson or group class so you can change shoes, grab a drink of water, check schedules, etc.
What else do I get with a Membership Package?
Packages from Special Occasion on up all include unlimited group classes, unlimited dance parties, discounted Specialty Group Classes, and free practice space.
Are there discounts for high school or college students?
Yes. Discounts are applied to group classes and membership packages. See General Pricing or ask Front Desk Staff for specific details.
Must I always have the same instructor?
No. Most people prefer remaining with the same instructor but you may switch at any time. You will find staying with one instructor is beneficial because he or she will know what to review each lesson, what your strengths are, and what methods work well for you.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand you may need to cancel or reschedule a private lesson from time to time. We require at least 24 hours notice otherwise you will be charged for the lesson. To cancel a Monday lesson please inform our Front Desk Staff by 3pm the previous Saturday.
Will my lessons expire?
Yes. The date of expiration is based upon the total number of private lessons in your Membership Package. If, for any reason, you need to put your package on hold simply notify the Front Desk Staff and your expiration date will be extended.
Do you give refunds?
There are no refunds on products or packages, but again, you may put your Membership Package on hold.
What if I want to bring a friend to the studio?
Friends and family are always welcome at Dancers Studio. Our complimentary lesson, Newcomer Night, group classes, and dance parties are all excellent ways for them to experience ballroom dancing. You may also include a guest on a private lesson. Note: having three or more students on a lesson is considered a Private Group Class and is billed separately.
What is the difference between a “Smooth” and “Rhythm” dance?
In a smooth dance the couple will travel counter-clockwise around the dance floor. Waltz, Foxtrot, and Polka are examples of Smooth. Rhythm dances are more stationary such as Salsa, ChaCha, and Rumba.
What is the Newcomer Night?
This special night is perfect for friends and family who are curious about Dancers Studio. Newcomer Night is the third Thursday of every month at 8pm. This free dance event begins with a 45-minute group class and is then followed by a fun, exciting dance party! Complimentary wine and cheese is provided.
What are the American and International Dance Levels?
Beginning: Anyone new to ballroom dancing is considered a beginner. At this level you will learn the basic steps to 7 social dances: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, ChaCha, Rumba, Swing, and Salsa. Think of it as your freshman year of college. It’s a big, exciting world and you’re beginning so take it all in!
Bronze: You have now moved beyond your freshman year and are into the meat of your coursework. Bronze Level is the standard for social dancing. Dancers Studio offers group classes at the Bronze Level and participation requires a Progress Test.
Silver: This is your senior year! The Silver Level is considered advanced social dancing where arm styling and fancy footwork are the norm. Entrance into group classes at the Silver Level also requires a Progress Test.
Gold: Think of it as your Masters Program in the world of dancing. You have considerable knowledge of all the Ballroom dances and you can flaunt your skills before large crowds. Competitions are a mainstay on your monthly calendar.
Open: The most advanced level, similar to a Ph.D. Dancers at the Open Level compete nationally for top prizes and with the utmost skill.
What are Dance Progress Tests?
Dancing can be a life-long activity with endless possibilities of patterns and techniques. So, in order to help our students advance smoothly into Bronze, Silver, and Gold Levels we have instituted a Progress Test System. This low-pressure, simple test consists of your regular instructor and one of our trained evaluators. They will critique and check your dancing progress. It is a simple, easy method of demonstrating all the fun steps you have learned thus far!
